Stoneville R&D, Inc., also known as SRD, Inc. is an independent, privately-owned company that provides contract services in agricultural research for the Mid-South area of the United States. SRD, Inc. specializes in studies conducted in conformance with Good Laboratory Practice Standards, or GLPs, as required under U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines (40 CFR, section 160.35). Efficacy research for all agricultural commodities grown in the Mid-South is the core effort for SRD, Inc. It is the intent of Stoneville R&D, Inc. to confidentially conduct quality research in agronomic crops and vegetables with reliable and reproducible results.



Location and Directions
SRD, Inc. is located in Washington County, Mississippi, in the heart of the Mid-South area of the United States. This places SRD, Inc. strategically in U.S. EPA Region IV, which represents a major production area for numerous agronomic crops. In 2008, Mississippi had 365,000 acres of cotton, 229,000 acres of rice, 1.96 million acres of soybeans, 720,000 acres of corn, 85,000 acres of grain sorghum, 520,000 acres of wheat, 20,000 acres of sweet potatoes and 22,000 acres of peanuts. SRD, Inc. can provide soil types and environmental conditions typical of any of these major crops. Additionally, SRD, Inc has excellent capabilities in vegetables, pasture and turf.


     

  Tyler O. Horn
Corporate President, GLP Vice President and Research Scientist

Tyler began his contract science career in 2001 as a Research Associate for SRD, Inc. after a time with Aventis CropScience from 2001 to 2002. In 2006, he became a significant shareholder in SRD, Inc. and was named Vice President and Research Scientist, and he was recently moved to Corporate President. He earned a Masters degree in Entomology from Mississippi State University in 2003 and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Pest Management from Mississippi State University in 1997.

His summers growing up were spent as a Summer Intern with BASF in the Insecticide and Fungicide Department. His professional memberships include The Mississippi Entomological Association, Entomological Association of America, Mississippi Weed Science Society(MASS) and National Association of Independent Crop Consultants. His training and certification includes Ag Specialist in Spatial Technologies, Delta State University, 2005, APHIS Compliance Training, Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification (License No. C-8311), Field Notes Training, Advanced GLP Training, and Pest Management Consultant (License. No. C-849).

  Charles E. Snipes
Founder, Corporate CFO, GLP President and Research Scientist

In 1986, Charles earned his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University in Weed Science, with a Minor in Biochemistry, after completing BS and MS degrees in Agronomy from Auburn University. He began his research career in 1986 as a Plant Physiologist with Mississippi State University at its Delta Branch Experiment Station in Stoneville, Mississippi. In 1998 he was named Extension Cotton Specialist for the Delta while continuing his research efforts in weed control and harvest aids. In addition to these duties, he was named Assistant Head of the Delta Research and Extension Center in 2004. In 2006, after nearly 25 years service, he retired from Mississippi State University and began full-time involvement with SRD, Inc. He is a member of the Weed Science Society of America and the Mississippi Weed Science Society (MWSS). He was awarded the MWSS Distinguished Service Award in 2005 and the Delta Council Researcher of the Year in 1998.

He founded SRD, Inc. (known then as Stoneville Associates, Inc) in 1987 for the purpose of conducting GLP residue trials in the Mississippi Delta part-time while employed with Mississippi State University. The name was changed to Stoneville R & D, Inc. in the mid 1990s and became a full-time GLP research service. During that time he served as President and Research Scientist with the full-time assistance of a Research Associate. Upon his retirement in 2006 he moved to full-time operation of the newly expanded business under the current company organization.

  Tim Evans
Research Associate

Tim began work with SRD, Inc. in March, 2007 after working with Mississippi State University for almost 20 years as a Research Associate. He has an Associate Degree from Mississippi Delta Community College. His responsibilities for SRD, Inc. involve all aspects of day-to-day research farm management including, but not limited to, maintenance of equipment (GLP and standard), maintenance of field historical records, GLP calibration, application and sampling.

He oversees all permanent and temporary field staff and manages all aspects of field study installation and pesticide applications. He began his GLP work experience as a part-time Research Aide for SRD, Inc. in 1990, then as Research Technician in 1993. He is state certified in Mississippi in Research and Demonstration Application and is licensed in Ornamental and Turf weed control, and Industrial weed control in the state of Mississippi.
