Seed Treatment
Our seed treatment laboratory is located in a self-contained
laboratory designed for chemical applications.
The area is equipped with a chemical grade fume hood
and has 100% air exchange preventing re-circulation of
inside air. SRD, Inc. utilizes a Spectracota ™ R-12 Rotary
Batch Lab Treater. It is designed to fulfill multipurpose
functions from coating and pelleting to film coating and
seed treatment. It simulates commercial roto-stat designs and has the
capability of atomization. Click photo to enlarge.
Seed Germination and Storability Studies
|
SRD’s Seed Germination Laboratory has the capability
for Standard Warm Germination conducted
according to the AOSA Rules for Testing Seed.
Normal, abnormal seedlings and dead seed percentages
are reported. Cold germination and
stress tests can also be conducted. Storability studies
include the affect of seed treatments (fungicides), insecticides, coatings, polymers, micro-nutrients, dyes and colorants, biologicals and inoculants) on germination, dust-off, and
plantability of a wide range of crop seeds for both short and long term
storability studies. We can apply the treatments at our seed treating
laboratory or we can accommodate pretreated studies. Click photo to enlarge.
Other Services
Dust-Off - is a measurement of dust or seed treatments which flake from
raw seed. We can measure and evaluate various seed coatings, polymers,
fungicide and other seed treatment formulations. Click photo to enlarge.
Plantability - Meter Max made by Precision Planting is designed to measure
the accuracy of the finger pickup and vacuum planting units. We
use it to detect differences in flowability and seed placement (“skips”
and “twins”) between various seed treatments.
